Grant received his bachelor’s degree (honours) in Information Technology at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) whilst also completing an internship as a network administrator at a financial services company. He was employed here for over 6.5 years. He was later promoted to a network engineer. In 2012 he succeeded this by completing a Master of Commerce in Information Systems (IS) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Thereafter he moved to Johannesburg and worked at one of Africa’s largest ICT services providers where he held the position as manager of a networking team. Later he was employed by an international digital communications agency as Chief Technology Officer where he remained in the position for 3 years. With more than 10 years of industry experience, he has decided to return to academia and was on contract as a Senior Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Information Systems at UCT. Grant is now an Assistant Lecturer in the same IS department. He is currently completing his PhD in IS. His research interest includes big data, decision value, strategy, decision-making, big data analytics, and the development of IS Artefacts. His research has been presented and published in various conference proceedings both local and internationally. This includes the African Journal of Information Systems (AJIS) and the 4th International Conference on the Internet, Cyber Security and Information Systems (hosted by the University of Johannesburg).
