Prof Jan Kroeze

Immediate Past President

Jan H Kroeze is a professor at the University of South Africa in the School of Computing.

He is currently chair of the department and manages research, higher degrees and community engagement. He has PhDs in Semitic Languages and Information Science. During his academic career Jan has published widely and has presented various conference papers on topics in both Hebrew linguistics and Information Systems (in total, 64 subsidy-bearing outputs).

His current research focuses on IS theory and philosophy. Jan was the conference chair of SAICSIT 2012 and co-chair of a mini-track on Transdisciplinary Wisdom in IS in 2012 at AMCIS.

Jan is also the first president of the Southern African Chapter of the AIS and the publications director of the AIS SIGPhil.

Jan is the head of CENSE and plans to extend the centre's offering by adding computer literacy and multimedia courses.

Jan is participating in CLIC, a computer literacy community engagement project in the school.
